the one with the bokashi . feb 14 . bokashi. bokashi. bokashi. save your food scraps (veggies, fruits, egg shells only) when and after you cook for composting. . bokashi is an anaerobic process of composting. it uses a bran to break down these organic matter producing soil builders and nutrient-rich juice for your plants. . 🌱storage process : as soon as we have leftover veggie scraps from prepping our meals, i immediately store them in a bowl which i keep in the freezer (usually takes 1-2 weeks to get filled) 🌱bokashi process : when about to put in the bokashi, i make sure i chop the scraps into smaller pieces (better if you have a blender, to make the pieces smaller). i then mix a handful of the bran to the scraps. then put it inside my bokashi bucket, topping it off with a handful of bran once more. 🌱 cultivating process : it usually takes 2 weeks for your bokashi to produce some juice. when putting the juice to your plants, make sure to dilute it with water 1:100, roughly 3 tablespoons to 5 liters of water as these have very strong microbes in them. . and that’s that! if you have any questions, you can comment below and i will try at best to answer.
the one with the plastic-free delivery . yay for plastic-free delivery! super thankful for @blitzdeliveryph as they allow your own packaging for delivery. . just last week i posted my pre-loved books for sale and all but two got sold! here is my plastic-free, re-used delivery packaging. i used old paper bags, krepe paper, and sandwhich bags for these lovely books; then hand-written the names and address’ on the back. . check out @blitzdeliveryph for your plastic-free delivery in affordable rates. . by the way, two books still available for loving: the great expectations and then there were none . cue: brown paper packages tied up with string, these are a few of my favourite things
the one with the segregation of “trash” . feb 13 . there really is no one person that has ZERO WASTE. In our household, there are several trash that we still have all of which can still be used. . right at the bottom of our sink, we have an area specifically for glass, boxes, paper, plastic, and e-waste. . in terms of what we do with these items are as follows: 🌱glass : donate to @bfi_ph or you can drop them of at junk shops 🌱boxes : donate to @dailyconvosshop for them to reuse as packaging 🌱paper : for donations (still no prospect but keeping the ones we have collected by far) 🌱plastic : kept in one place for an upcoming project 🌱 ewaste : for proper recycling by e-waste recycling program of up students . also watch out for @thegoodtrade.ph , they always have recycling bins where you can donate the said items to different non-profit organizations which upcycle/reuse/recycle the items. . there you have it! our “recycling” bin at home. what’s your process like? #meanlivingmindfulhome
the one with the leftover coffee grounds . feb 12 . waste is not always the end all-there is so much more. with coffee grounds, there are so many possibilities! i purchase my coffee grounds from @coffeebylittlefarmers in bulk (they grind the beans for your for free! and have branches at sm makati and sm megamall) & french press at home. . used coffee grounds are great for so many things like: ☕️ deodorizer for you refrigerator ☕️ deodorizer for your bathrooms (we have several cats so this really helps in combatting the smell) ☕️ body scrub (use the coffee grounds, add some salt or sugar, then add coconut oil) - dedinitely smoothens the skin. make sure to sparingly use this as it can clog the pores. ☕️ plant fertilizer ( i, personally have not used it as a fertilizer but have read positive things about it) . definitely worth the try if you are a coffee drinker. what do you think? #meanlivingmindfulhome
the one with the kitchen organization . let’s open up the cabinets, and show everything! with storage and organization it’s best to... 🌱 avoid too much storage spaces as that will entail you have more things 🌱keep it clean and simple 🌱try to keep the storages vertical 🌱make sure you can see everything at one glance . now on to the actually spaces: 〰️ 1st space is full of our cleaning materials/refills and right below that are three boxes with twine, wooden clips, and tools respectively. 〰️ 2nd space is where we put our recycling, whether it be glass, paper, e-waste, etc. 〰️ 3rd space is where i put my trash jar (currently deciding on what to do with it), our cloth napkins, and our food in jars or cans. 〰️ 4th space ,from top to bottom, our steamer and mincer. next are our plastic reusables and below them are our stainless steel lunchboxes. 〰️5th space is quite empty as it inly holds our plastic reusables that we use for our groceries and to the right is my apron with some single-use plastics that we have collected over time. . that’s it folks! how do you organize your cabinets? . ps the cabinets here in our kitchen are quite old-fashioned [and because this is a rental] and aren’t quite my fave. #meanlivingmindfulhome
the one with the dishes . feb 10 . my love for plates & cups - ceramic or wooden have definitely increased. as much as possible, when choosing dishes, i aim for it to be second hand or eco-friendly. no plastics allowed! . from top to bottom 🌱 cup bought second hand at a japanese thrift store somewhere near sm southmall ₱85 🌱 mangkok bought from ritual, second hand ₱50 🌱 grey bowl bought from landmark ₱60 🌱 wooden plates bought from @ecoswitchshop made out of left over acacia from furnitures ₱250 🌱 grey plates bought from h&m ₱199 . all these pieces were bought at different times over the past 2 months, carefully making sure each piece bring happiness. wish i fell in love with more second-hand plates that i have come across. . what are your dish preferences? #meanlivingmindfulhome
