Mean Living started out as a place where I could document and share MY JOURNEY into a sustainable lifestyle to everyone, most especially the Filipino audience. Now over 18 months, I think it’s time to shed a bigger light into what exactly is SUSTAINABILITY.

It’s a bigatin [big] word. There are so many different definitions as to how or what it really means, so here are some definitions that explain it really well:

[ sus·tain·able | \ sə-ˈstā-nə-bəl\ ]

1: capable of being sustained
2a: of, relating to, or being a method of harvesting or using a resource so that the resource is not depleted or permanently damaged

b: of or relating to a lifestyle involving the use of sustainable methods

Merriam-Websters Dictionary

In essence sustainable development is about five key principles: quality of life; fairness and equity; participation and partnership; care for our environment and respect for ecological constraints – recognising there are ‘environmental limits’; and thought for the future and the precautionary principle.

Sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

I have come to know that practicing “zero-waste” is not the only way to live sustainably. With ACWP [A Cup with Phoebe], I want to shed some light to different individuals, groups, and companies here in the Philippines on how they define/view sustainability in their lifestyle/practices because it definitely can be done in numerous ways.

So what will ACWP be? A sit down interview with a cup of something [coffee, tea, juice, water, or anything!], not more than 10 minutes, not more than 10 questions—simple and direct. I want people to be informed and to know more about different sustainable practices. You may watch my videos then find something that interests you–as a result, you do more research for yourself. [I will be posting notes/more readings at the description of each video to further your knowledge on a certain topic.]

So there you have it! I have a couple people lined up to be interviewed but do let me know if you know or want someone to be in ACWP.
